These are the current vampiric Sects active in Nocturne; while some are very much unchanged, others have taken a different path from the V20, or V5 canon.

Camarilla

The Camarilla is the most organized Sect, and the largest overall. It is structured strongly around the Traditions, the six major laws of vampire society, chief among them the Masquerade; currently, the Camarilla has seven Pillar Clans, which form the core membership, but also two Probate Clans: the Lasombra Antitribu and the Assamite Apostates.

These two are slowly building a presence and working alongside the other seven clans to have their leaders join the Inner Circle, the leadership of the Ivory Tower. Currently, they are peaceful towards the Anarchs (although there are restrictions on Anarch residence in Camarilla territory, which also apply to the Caitiff and the Thin Bloods: vampires with a Generation above the Thirteenth), and are involved in a low-level conflict with the Sabbat. They are neutral towards the Hekate and the Covenant, and they are currently in an alliance with the Ashirra, a coalition of Muslim and Middle-Eastern vampire Clans. They have minimal interactions with the Eastern Clans.

It is a highly structured society, bound by the principles of Titles, and the power behind them, and Prestation, the exchange of favors between individuals or groups. A reformist current, led by a few of the Justicars, is aiming for the Blood Pact to supplant the Traditions as a true “Constitution of the Kindred”.

Ashirra

The Ashirra is the largest sect in North Africa and the Middle East, but especially in the Arab World. All the Clans, bar the Giovanni, Ravnos, Tremere and Tzimisce have members here. It is structured similarly to the Ivory Tower, but wields less power overall, and local Sultans are very much their own people, beholden to none but other allied Sultans.

They are currently in an alliance of convenience with the Camarilla, but have still to put down official terms and conditions for it beyond a mere: “we’ll defend each other if we are attacked”.

Sabbat

The Sabbat is a loose organization of Cainites who reject the Traditions, and consider the mortals as kine to be fed on, and the Camarilla and other Sects as willing servants of the damned Antediluvians. Calling themselves the Sword of Caine, the Sect believes it will slay their forerunners once they wake from torpor, and Gehenna arrives.

They are a religious militant cult that praises Caine as its god, and performs ritae, ***(***focusing on their vampiric state of exaltation above the mere mortals) the Vaulderie being chief among them. They are made of packs and covens loyal to higher authorities above themselves. Currently, the main two pillars are Clan Tzimisce and Lasombra, with other clans represented by their “Antitribu”, or rebels who left their Clan for the leadership of the Sabbat.

While outwardly “chaotic”, it is just an appearance made such by the ultraviolence and ruthlessness of the Sect; it has some very stringent rules, sanctified by the Code of Milan, and by the constant watch of the Black Hand and the Sabbat Inquisition. One of the most impactful events was the **Betrayal of Clan Lasombra,** during which two key Lasombra figures, Giangaleazzo and Marcus Vitel, organized a move of many Keepers into the Camarilla. The few Lasombra still in the Sabbat have lost face, and are no longer as trusted as before…

Anarch Movement

The Anarchs are a ragtag coalition of vampires who reject the status quo of Camarilla society, but also the needless violence of the Sabbat. They are between them, somewhat.

Pretty much every Clan is represented here, although its main membership is made of Brujah, Gangrel, Lasombra, Ravnos, Setites and Malkavians who are tired from their sect’s way of life, and who decided to leave. They have an uneasy relationship with the Camarilla, but an even worse one with the Sabbat, who believes them to be soft.

The document that outlines their philosophy is the Status Perfectus, and some of the findings of the Summit of Prague, which are particularly close to the Anarch way of thinking…

Covenant of Set and Augustus

The Covenant is an extremely recent Sect, made by a coalition of Setite sorcerers and warriors, and Giovanni necromancers and mobsters.

Between their control of organized crime of all sorts, and a mastery of sorcery and necromancy, the Covenant is able to keep itself safe, and negotiate from a position of equity with the other Sects at the Summit of Prague.

Furthermore, the Setites inside this Sect have changed much of their dogma into a celebration of the pleasures of life and unlife, the peace of death and the joys of wraithly servitude, something that brings together the hedonistic outlook, but also fatalism, of both clans: the Doctrine of Eternal Vice has quite a strong appeal to them. However, they are facing many troubles due to infernalists, which are deeply embedded in both the Setite priesthood and the Giovanni leadership…

Hekata

While a chunk of the Giovanni defected to join the lies of the Setites, the loyalists persevered, by making peace with the other Clans of Death and creating a Sect of their own: Hekata

After a meeting in Venice, immediately after the Summit in Prague, the Clans of Death set aside their difference to become one: Giovanni, and their bloodlines; the Cappadocians and the Harbingers of Skulls; the Lamia, the Nagaraja, the Pisanob and even the Samedi decided to come together as one.

Their own leadership has abandoned some of the lurid excesses of the Giovanni, but a few still clamor to do the “old traditions” like they used to. Fortunately, the new Clans now share the power, and the Hekata stops such actions from being done. Or at least, that’s what everyone believes.
