The Diablerie, or Amaranth, is the tern used by vampires when, after drinking another’s vitae and bringing them to Torpor, they also draw their soul out from their body, subsuming its power.
It is an unforgivable crime in the eyes of most Sects, seen with the same disgust and appallment of cannibalism between mortals, with the notable exceptions of the Sabbat, that has no qualms against it, and the Ruat Ur-Shulgi or Loyalist Clan Assamite.
Diablerie is the consumption, and enslavement, of another Kindred or Cainite’s vitae to the point of Torpor, and the soul to the point of Final Death.
The aggressor, or diablerist, does so for the promise of great power, but at the risk of their own soul and sanity. The diablerized, instead, goes into the worst possible kind of Final Death:
There are also consequences to the diablerist: he incurs in damage to his Aura, and many possible mental flaws, too. But, some say, the rewards are too great to ignore: the lowering of one’s Generation and the immediate gain of new, powerful Disciplines are quite the incentive.
Despite how heinous of a crime it is, rarely is it repaid with the same: both the Camarilla and the Anarchs generally forbid the diablerie of someone under a Blood Hunt, or that has betrayed the Movement, with the notable exception of that performed by a sire on a failed childe, or by a childe upon their treacherous sire.
But aside from these very small caveats, both Sects prefer Final Death to the instability that Diablerie brings…
The target not only does take root into the diablerist’s undead body, but they also have some radical changes, should the target succeed.
